AI Detects Chronic High Blood Pressure Through Voice

Imagine being able to be diagnosed by your doctor simply by talking to them? Researchers at Klick Labs have developed a groundbreaking method to detect chronic high blood pressure using artificial intelligence to analyze voice recordings. Participants recorded their voices multiple times daily through an app, and the AI successfully identified hypertension with up to 84% accuracy for women and 77% for men. This innovative approach leverages vocal biomarkers like pitch variability and speech patterns, which aren’t detectable by humans.

This method aims to improve hypertension screening, a condition known as the “silent killer,” by offering a more accessible alternative to traditional blood pressure monitoring methods. The potential for earlier detection is significant, especially for people in underserved areas where medical equipment is less available.

The study marks an expansion of Klick Labs’ research into using voice technology to detect health conditions. Their AI models had previously shown success in identifying Type-2 diabetes. Raising the question of what other types of diseases can be identified as well.
