AI Strawberry Farm Pioneers Sustainable, Year-Round Harvest
Just when you thought AI could not be anymore involved in our daily life, it turns out it is now being used with farming.
The world’s first AI-powered vertical strawberry farm has been launched by Plenty Unlimited in Virginia. This innovative facility uses AI to monitor over 10 million data points daily, ensuring optimal growing conditions year-round. The farm conserves resources, using 97% less land and up to 90% less water compared to traditional farming, while producing 4 million pounds of strawberries annually.
Partnered with Driscoll’s, the farm aims to provide strawberries with peak-season flavor consistently. Growing vertically on 30-foot towers, the method maximizes space and efficiency while reducing environmental unpredictability.
The farm showcases how technology can address climate challenges and revolutionize agriculture, offering a sustainable model for global food production. The first strawberries are expected to hit stores in early 2025.
