Matt Brusich, a self-described non-runner, took on a marathon by running laps around his own Chicago block. He completed this unique challenge on October 12, 2024, ahead of the Chicago Marathon, and raised over $11,000 for Lincoln Park Community Services, a nonprofit that supports the homeless.
Brusich’s marathon had a fun and creative atmosphere, with friends and neighbors taking part in themed laps, wearing costumes, and supporting his efforts with donations. Despite the long day of running, Brusich remained energized by the community’s enthusiasm.
In the end, he completed the marathon in about six hours. Brusich now looks forward to watching the Chicago Marathon as a spectator, enjoying the sense of accomplishment from his unique event. His efforts not only brought joy to his neighborhood but also made a meaningful impact on the local community
